For over 100 years the Government of New Zealand, on behalf of its citizens, has been helping families to live healthier and happier lives by providing good quality housing for them to rent or buy. That tradition has had a huge impact on the streetscape of New Zealand's towns and cities. In Hamilton the perfect combination of location and urban design resulted in a state housing subdivision that is just as desirable today as it was when the first tenants moved in nearly 70 years ago.

The Houses of Hayes Paddock Hamilton was produced by the Waikato Institute of Technology's Schools of Media Arts and Communication and records the development of this historic precinct from the building of the first homes.

The volume boasts stunning full colour photographs which, combined with the historic essay, provide a captivating overview of this area of Hamilton's local history.

Written, Illustrated and Designed by: Ann McEwan, Anne Challinor and Jaimee Ballard
